Course Description

In Scratch Basics students learn how to code using Scratch, a block programming language developed specifically for kids by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Students will be introduced to Computer Science with activities that do not only focus on technical detail but on creative potential as well. Students will develop computational thinking skills by engaging in coding projects that are related to their interests and draw on their imagination.

In this course Students will:

Use Scratch to create animations, make music and tell stories.
Learn to debug computer programs
Use operators and variables to create games

Kimberley Moore

Kimberley Moore has over a decade of experience working within the education sector where she developed her skill for curriculum development she has a Bsc in Social Studies a subject she has always been passionate about .She joined Smart kids to do something that truly drove her, but will also keep her love for teaching close at hand, tech has always been something she was intrigued by and being at smart kids is the best of both worlds where she can mold and encourage young minds in technology and get to play with amazing new tech .During her time at smart kids she has developed a deep and growing love for programming which she is now perusing . “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution.” Albert Einstein.

Kaylyn Singh

Kaylyn Singh has a Bachelor Degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Trinidad and Tobago. She enjoys tutoring kids. Miss Singh believes that is it very important that kids be exposed to technology and use it as a tool to learn problem solving skills and creativity. She has taught Junior Robotic workshops with Smart Kids.

Leah Martin

STEM Teacher

Leah Martin has a Bachelor of Education in ECCE and Primary Education. She believes that holistic education is responsible for children becoming well adjusted adults who are able to express their knowledge and emotions in a safe and healthy way. She is a diligent, team player that enjoys the creativity and opportunity STEM offers to our world of technology today.

Sharda Sankar

Sharda Sankar has a Bachelor of Education from the University of Trinidad and Tobago. She is very passionate about teaching and has five years teaching in Primary Education. Ms Sankar has taught Robotics, Coding and STEAM workshops since 2016 with Smart Kids Educational Club. She intends to make her classes fun and educational and looks forward to interact with you.
