FIRST LEGO League 2017 – 2018

The FIRST LEGO League (FLL) is an international competition organized by FIRST for student 9–16. Each year in August, FIRST LEGO League introduces a scientific and real-world challenge for teams to focus and research on. Smart Kids chose the top 5 students from South who participated in our STEM workshops between 2016 and 2017 to form Smart Kids AQUA Tech. Our team members are:

Why do we need sponsors?

The FIRST LEGO League Challenge is a not-for-profit activity to promote STEM education among children. Smart Kids Educational Club provided Coaching, Mentorship, Equipment and Co-ordination and paid all fees associated with entering the challenge and buying additional equipment. We needed sponsors to provide a practice studio, tee-shirts, snacks etc. Our biggest cost was rental of the studio from November 2017 to April 2018. Our sponsors were:

Sara Bernard

Sara Bernard is the founder and CEO of Smart Kids. She has 15 years experience in the LNG Industry where she developed a wealth of knowledge in plant support and supervision of engineering designs. She was an Engineering Team Leader for 5 years before leaving the Oil & Gas Industry to pursue her dreams in Education. Mrs. Bernard started Smart Kids to give young students skills like innovation that she saw were missing in the local industry. She believes innovation is a skill that can be taught and honed with practice!
